My experience with the Advantage Program last summer was truly life changing and fondly memorable. Besides the fact that I had the opportunity to learn relevant finance knowledge and work together with many analytical and great minds, the Advantage Program was also very instrumental in helping me transfer from a complete non-target school to a semi-target/target school (I recently took the year off and applied and was eventually accepted to NYU, UVA, and Emory, among other schools, as an undergraduate transfer student; the admissions counselors were very impressed with my experiences at Kerburn as well as the initiative on my part in enrolling and taking classes at NYSOIB as still yet only a sophomore/rising junior). To be quite honest, coming into the program last summer, I didn’t know what to expect. As someone who never even took a single finance or intermediate accounting course prior to my enrollment (I was from a chemistry background as a student in a 6-year guranteed combined degree BA/Pharm. D. Program), the prospect of working in the financial services industry was still very new and unfamiliar to me. However, my experience at the New York School of Investment Banking was paramount in confirming my interests in the field, and in bridging the gap between my previous formal academic study with real-life knowledge. It is because of these collective experiences and the lessons learned in the process, that I hope to return once again for this summer. – William Choi

Finally, I will accept the offer of Columbia University. I am fully expecting to coming back to New York City and giving you a big surprise!! I miss your office and the people there a lot! By the way, I found I fall in love with fundamental analysis, especially focus on the corporate financial datas, stock exchange datas to get an in-depth understanding of business style. I am now interning in the Hillhouse Capital, founded by Leizhang graduated from Yale SOM, the biggest hedge fund in Asia. It manages the endowments of Yale, Princeton and Berkley. I can learn GREAT about how to process a task, how to manage a project, how to design case by case analysis. I am in banking, real estate and insurance group. It is an unordinary experience. – Anna

I just wanted to inform you that I accepted an employment offer from Exelon, as a Financial Analyst, and my training with The Advantage Program was probably the biggest factor in my employment. The advertised position stated that they would prefer someone with 3-years of work experience or an MBA (neither of which I have), but when they saw the financial modeling on my resume they called asking for more info on my modeling skills. They wanted to see a Financial Model that I had previously worked on, so I sent the one I did for [Hedge Fund 1], and they were impressed. During the interview, I also was asked many of the questions that you went through with us, when discussing how to link the financial statements and building unlevered free cash flows from various points in the financial statements. They also asked how I would go about reconciling an un-balanced Balance Sheet, and the tips you provided really helped answer the questions. I really appreciated the training and feel that it gave me a strong advantage in the interview process. – NY School of Investment Banking Graduate
