What Others Say About NYSF

I want to drop you a line on my experience after the Winter season at your semester program at the NYSOIB. During the months that the program lasted and after coming back to Mexico, the experience was great I still surprise myself by how much I have grown as a professional, how much I learned and the great friends and contacts I made through the program. Many things happened after finishing the program back in April. With Julio we decided to start a company called NYMEX (together with Jennifer and Walter from the program) serving small and middle sized companies in Mexico that are in search of funds, restructuring or being offered to private equity funds both in Mexico and the US. I have been also supporting Adam on several projects learning a lot on the different deals he is involved with. Also I am very pleased to tell you that I accepted an offer at Citibank Latin America, supporting the Corporate and Investment Banking team. I am very grateful for your advice on “my story” and my resume which was critical in securing the job, your mentoring and all the valuable knowledge you provided to us. Thank you once again and let me wish you the best. – Arturo Cuevas

I accepted an offer at Citibank

Just wanted to let you know that I just accepted a full time job offer from a firm here in New York as an Analyst! It’s for a real estate focused private equity firm called Pretium Partners LLC and it seems like it will be a really good place to work! The program really taught me a lot about the fundamentals & technicals of finance which really played a big part in helping me with the interviews & allowed me to talk about my deals with confidence. While my new position isn’t as heavily focused on modelling, I’m glad that I can build models well and can also really understand whats going on from a higher level. – Lisa Padalko

I had a lot going on in my career and life but now I am fully settled. Actually, I worked about one year in a boutique investment bank in St. Louis but found that it was not a fit for long-term career development. At the same time, I received 80% scholarship from Olin Business School, Wustl and thus went back to MBA last Fall. Edwin Reyhan, who was in the first-half of the program, also goes to Olin for MBA. As my spring semester ends, I am going to intern at Express Scripts. I really liked my interviews with the people there and believe it is a good place to stay long term. Therefore, I probably will not continue banking but pursue corporate finance in fortune 500 companies, which is a really good choice too! I just really want to thank you for all the awesome lectures and mentorship. I am very grateful for what I learned in the program. – Alison Li

I would like to share some good news with you. I just finished the recruiting process for the internship in the upcoming summer and I got five offers from Hong Kong Bulge brackets ( Nomura, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Credit Suisse) and I decided to sign with Credit Suisse. I think my internship at KR and the course gave me great help during the process and I indeed learn a lot. Again, I am really glad that I had this experience and thank you very much for your constant help. I hope to keep in touch with you and continue to learn from you! – Ruijia Tan

Thank you very much for your constant help

I can’t find a specific word to say how I miss the training session in this Winter term. Experience at Kerburn and skills learned at NYSOIB successfully positioned me at Vermilion Partners (Beijing office), which is a boutique UK-based M&A shop. Currently I am working as Junior Analyst at Vermilion, where I am staffed on lots of cross border M&A and buyout transactions. My desk is fulfilled by models and pitchbooks and all the skills that I learned at NYSOIB are proofed to be really useful. – Prince

I just wanted to give you the heads up that your program gave me the traction I needed to start my career. I am also still good friends with a few people from our winter program, so overall NYSOIB was one of the most rewarding things I have done. I am happy to speak to any other Australians/New Zealanders who have questions about the program. – Alex

We knew Aaron was loving the program; we came to visit NY during the summer and could hardly pry him away from work. In fact, he liked working so much he is now scheming how to graduate in 3 years, vs. his original plan of getting 3 degrees in 4 years. The program really exceeded our expectations. – Dave Vagts

Since I finished the AnEx program in 2010 and graduated in 2012, I’ve been working at Moelis & Co. in Los Angeles. I was the lead analyst on Life Technologies on its $15.7bn sale to Thermo Fisher earlier this year, and I’ve also recently received and accepted an offer from KKR to join their Private Equity group next year. – Peter

I just wanted to take a second to thank you for all of the work you put in to making the program happen this summer. I learned a ton and had a lot of fun doing so. The internship at Kerburn was amazing. Overall, although I had very high expectations going into the summer, the program and internship absolutely exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to break into the industry. – Joshua Keffer
